  • VIS HIGH PERFORMANCE SNICKERS SOCCER PROGRAM

    The VIS Soccer Team train 11 months of the year in preparation for biennial World Championships at Under 17 and Under 20 levels. The coaches implement an integrated physical, technical and tactical developmental training program which includes Sports Science, Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition, Sports Psychology and Athlete Career Guidance.

    The team competes as the VIS Soccer Club in the VSF Premier League from February to August.  VIS players compete for the Victorian State Teams at Under 14, 15 and 16 in the National Championships in September. The team tours overseas on an annual basis to expose players to international tournament competition.  This year the team will travel to Barcelona in Spain and play several top quality matches.


    TRACK AND FIELD NEWS

    The Telstra A Series is up and running. Here are some of the Victorian Institute of Sport’s Track and Field results so far:

    Friday 8th February – Canberra-ACT
    Lauren Hewitt
    won the 100 and 200 metres
    Craig Mottram took out the men's 1,500 metres
    Tasman Lewis finished first in the Women's 800 metres
    Kimberley Crow won the women's 400 metre hurdles
    David Baxter came first in the Men's 200 Meters and David Flowers came third

    Aaron Neighbour finished second in the Men's Discus Throw.

    Sunday 10th February - Campbelltown-NSW
    Lauren Hewitt
    again won the women's 200 metres
    Rachel Dacy finished second in the Women's' Pole Vault

    Saturday 23rd February – Newcastle NSW
    Lauren Hewitt
    took out the Women's 100m and completed the double when she also took out the Women's 200 metres.

    Tamsyn Lewis was again victorious in the Womens 400m with fellow VIS Scholarship holder Katerina Dressler following her over the line in second.

    In the Women's 1500 meters Georgie Clarke kicked away with 300 meters to go to cross the line first.

    VIS Javelin throwers Cecilia McIntosh and Kathryn Mitchell finished first and second respectively with Cecilia throwing 52.92meters.

    Clare Thompson was second in the Women's 100 meter hurdles, while Sonia Brito was also second in the Women's 400 meter hurdles.

    NEXT in the Telstra A Series is Melbourne at Olympic Park on the 7th March.
